Since my bears don't "jump" so quickly from my crochet hook, I am showing some of my older bears in the meantime. All of these bears have been adopted, except a few that I kept in my own collection. I hope you will enjoy these pictures until a new bearkidz baby is ready to be introduceed!
Here are the pictures of my newest bearkidz baby Erica. She is entirely crocheted and one of a kind. Her size is 8 inches and she turned out to be so cute.
At the moment I like working with darker yarns and have already my next project envisioned. Erica is my third black bear in a row. Around her face I crocheted a row in brown eyelash yarn which gives her a different look.
It is sooo hot, not just today but all week! The last two days the temperature in my car showed 103, and this while I was driving, not when the car was standing in the sun! Too much heat for my liking! On the positive side: I spent more time inside the air conditioned house and finished another bear. The little one is about 8 inches tall and black. I didn't get a chance to take a picture yet but will post one as soon as I get to it.
On Saturday I attended a doll and bear show which had been held in North Carolina before, but for the first time it took place in Charlotte. Dolls represented the majority and besides me only one other bear artist, Lori Pappas from LoriBelle Designs was there. I had a great day, got to talk to many nice people and several of my bears found new homes. It was all in all a pleasant experience.
I hope everybody had a nice Monday. Here it was hot again! Not just warm, but really hot in the 90s with afternoon rain and thunderstorms. Summer hasn't even started yet and I am already looking forward to fall!
At the moment I am getting ready for a show in Charlotte on Saturday. It is the first time that I am doing this show and I am looking forward to it. This show is not a "bears only" show, but a doll and bear show. For a doll and bear collector like me just the right one. More information can be found on my website www.bearkidz.com under "about".
This is one of the bears that will come with me to the show.
What a nice surprise! Just received my copy of the August 2010 issue of Teddy Bear Review. In it is a wonderful article about colorful critters and my crocheted bear Mica is one of the featured bears! Thank you, Teddy Bear Review!
I am back after having a great time in good old Germany. This time I am still fighting jetlag. Each morning I am waking up at 4.00 am which is 10.00 am German time. Hope I can adjust withing the next couple of days!
Now I am planning on crocheting my next bear, just have to find yarn that inspires me.
In the meantime I will post a fun picture showing 2 of my older bearkidz, Rascal and Mason, riding a wooden pull toy horse. These two bears are not for sale. Some bears I just can't part with and they stay with me.
