The first snowflakes of this Winter made it to Charlotte! The snow blanket is only about 1/2 inch but it is very cold and the streets are covered with ice.

My dog and I went for a short walk, all bundled up. It was not easy to walk on the ice, so we decided to go home, sit by the fireplace and have a hot chocolate for me and a doggie treat for my 4-legged friend.

This was already enough snow for me! I am ready for spring!

bearkidz-baby Henrik

Little Henrik was "born" today! He is crocheted from a super soft whispy eyelash yarn and I designed and crocheted the cutest little outfit for him. His size is about 6.5 inches standing. In case you want to know more about baby Henrik, please contact me.

dolls for a change

In Naples (Florida)at the doll show some of my bearkidz-babies found new mommies so I felt, I should give some dolls a new home. You might perhaps know that I don't just collect bears but also dolls. One Kaethe Kruse (Schielboeckchen) and a Schildkroet (Turtle Mark) doll named Baerbel caught my eye, and I had to adopt them. They looked so lonely, and I can even speak in German with them! lol

I arrived in Jacksonville yesterday night and will today continue my drive home to Charlotte. This was the view from my window in Jacksonville this morning. My camera couldn't really catch the beauty of the sunrise. The picture can only give an idea how gorgeous the sky looked.

I am in South Florida for a couple of days. Time just flies and the first day of the Naples show is over. To see all these wonderful dolls was once again a treat. Of course I found a doll to add to my doll family: A Turtle Mark doll (Baerbel) which reminded me of my childhood in Germany. She is beautiful in her original outfit and i am glad to have found her. Tomorrow is the second and last day of the show. Hopefully I will be able to resist all these dolls asking me to take them home!

First bear of 2010 - it's a girl!

The first bearkidz baby of the year 2010 is born: Caroline.
Caroline is one of a kind and entirely crocheted. She will come with me to the doll and bear show in Naples (Florida) on the 16. and 17. of January to look for a new mommy. I am really looking forward to this show and will for sure have a great time.

The day is beautiful, cold and sunny again. I will now stop working on my new website and enjoy this gorgeous day!

Friday, January 8, 2010

Today I spent the day with preparations for the upcoming show in Naples. Hopefully the temperatures in Florida next week will be more pleasant than the ones they have right now.

For many years now I attend the Naples show together with a doll dealer friend and we always have a great time. Usually I am the only bear artist. Several of my collectors come to this show to adopt one or more bearkidz bears. As a bear and doll collector I always enjoy my time in Naples and each year at least one more sibling is added to my bear/doll family and will come home with me.

Finally, here is the picture of my last bear of the year 2009. Bearkidz mini #8 was born on December 31, 2009. I also took a picture with bearkidz mini #7. Doesn't she look cute with her brother?
Well, this is the last mini that is numbered and without a name, although I am sure that all adopted minis have been named by their moms. As of 2010 I will give them names as suggested by several collectors and bear friends.
Both bears are available for adoption, please got to my website:

It is bitter cold but sunny. I didn't get a chance to take pictures of my newest bearkidz family member yet. Each day we are still doing family stuff and enjoying each others company. Soon life will go back to "normal" when everybody has to go back to work. This will give me a chance to catch up with my bearkidz work as well as getting ready with my preparations for the show in January. I wish everybody a wonderful Sunday!
