Today my last bear of this year was "born": bearkidz mini #8, a cute little girl crocheted from gorgeous yellow eyelash yarn. I still need to take pictures and will post them as soon as I get a chance which will be in the new year 2010! HAPPY NEW YEAR!
I hope everybody had a peaceful Christmas, I surely did. It was a wonderful and quiet time I could spend with my family. One more day and a new exciting year will begin. I am looking forward to going to Florida in January where I will attend the Naples doll show. Since I am a doll collector besides making and collecting bears, this show is for years now my favourite on my schedule.
Another beautiful day, sunshine and cooler temperatures. I am working on another bearkidz mini. It will be mini number eight and I might start giving them names instead of just numbers. Several people asked me to name them.
Today we have another cold and rainy day. The weatherman said there might be a chance for some wet snow, however it rained all day. I really wouldn't mind if we had at least a little white dusting for Christmas, even if it was just for one day!
I would like to introduce you to bearkidz® mini #7. This funny little bear is one of a kind and crocheted from an eyelash yarnin a beautiful turquoise shade. It sits 5 inches tall and will be available through my website.
Before sending out bearkidz® mini #6 to his new mommy I took a picture of the siblings.
Bearkidz mini #6 is almost ready to be introduced to the bear world! I crocheted him/her from a beautiful yellow eyelash yarn. I used a cream colored cotton yarn for the paws and off white felting wool for the face.
It is a rainy day and I am working on bearkidz mini #6.
The response to this new series is very positive. At this point I have planned to limit the series to a number of 10 bearkidz minis. These minis are all one of a kind, each with it's distinctive own personality.
All the minis that I have made so far have each found a new family to live with.
Mini #6, a yellow one with pudgy cheeks, will be finished this week and go on ebay by the end of this week.
Lately I have not been able to add much to my blog. Helping with my daughter's move and getting ready for Thanksgiving took most of my time. I can't believe that November is almost over. Now I am ready for the holidays and looking forward to decorating the house and getting in the Christmas spirit.
Finally I get to introduce bearkidz mini #5. This funny little one sits 3 1/2 inches tall and is like all it's bearkidz siblings one of a kind. I crocheted him/her (I leave this up to a new owner) and needle felted the face. The eyes are glass eyes, accessories include a hat and a collar in shades matching the "fur" and all handmade by me. Mini #5 will be listed on ebay this weekend.
I finished the second in the bearkidz mini series. This bear stands 3 1/2 inches tall and is crocheted from a pink eyelash yarn. The facial features are needlefelted, the eyes are tiny glass eyes. A crocheted collar and hat complete this little one.
A new bearkidz-baby is born. Leon is about 12" tall and one of a kind. He might look like he is made from mohair, but he is not. As all my bearkidz he is crocheted from a variety of different yarns without the use of any pattern. This newest bearkidz-family member will be up for adoption soon on my website. If you like to inquire about him, please send me an email.
I am working on a new series, the bearkidz-Minis. This is the first one, available soon on ebay and on my website. The little one stands 4 1/2 inches tall,is crocheted from eyelash yarn, and has a needle felted face. Hat and collar are handmade. You can always email me for more information.
I am back home and crocheting my newest bearkidz family member. I am inviting you to a sneak preview. The head of my bear is not done yet, eyes and ears are just attached losely with pins. I still need to determine where I would like them placed. The nose hasn't been waxed or sealed yet and also no shading has been applied. But isn't it amazing how ears and their placement change the expression of the bear?
At the moment I am out of town again but not without my crochet hook, knitting needles and some yarn. This time I have been working on a dress for a future bearkidz bear. I am sure there will be one that will look perfect and "beary" fine in this dress. At home I have started to work on a new bear and I can't wait to get back to keep working. The first part I always finish is the bears' head. I will show a picture of him/her? as soon as my creation is ready. I always need to wait until a finished bear looks at me and only then I can tell if it is a she or a he. Once my new bear has a name, he or she will be happy to meet you!
A new bearkidz baby is born. Her name is Amy. She is one-of-a-kind and about 10"(25 cm)tall. Amy is crocheted from an eyelash yarn in combination with a very thin strand of yarn with soft and whispy "lashes". Her paw pads are made from a microfiber fabric. I also knitted a dress with a little ballerina button in front that matches the paw pads in color. A braided hair band rounds up her outfit. Amy will be available on my website soon.
I am back from my travels to Germany and will start to work on new bears soon. This weekend I will enjoy the beautiful sunny weather that already shows a hint of fall. The leaves are slowly starting to turn and I am ready for some cooler temperatures.
I just finished little Daisy. She is one of a kind and entirely crocheted, as always without the use of any pattern. She stands 10 inches tall. I crocheted a white and yellow dress and made a hair bow for her so she looks pretty and girly. Her accessories include a little rocking horse. She will soon be available on my website.
The little brown bear I was talking about earlier was "born" today and turned out to be a girl. Her name is Antonia, she is one of a kind and entirely crocheted, no pattern used. She will be available on my website soon www.bearkidz.com
